Drove to Ottawa to spend three nights in a downtown hotel.
Thursday (Feb 23): Lunch in Oswego, emergency donut stop in Brockville, and arrived about 4 pm. The hotel room was enormous, and it took us several minutes to find the second bedroom.
Friday: Crossed the river into Quebec, heading to the Museum of Civilization. It had an impressive collection of totem poles.
Bus driving William
Significant snow in the evening. Bounced balls in the excercise room.
Saturday: Saw dinosaurs and whales at the Museum of Nature.
Lunch at the Rideau Center, a giant mall with all kinds of fancy stores. William updated his Lego collection.
After that, we headed out to the Science and Technology Museum, Started with locomotives, space, and a cryogenics demonstration. A giant William-powered hamster wheel powered a van de Graaff generator. The high spot (for William) was a communications network simulation in which kids raced about illuminated tubes suspended from the ceiling. Then William checked out the frozen confection exhibit.
Sunday: Saw silver being melted, rolled, and stamped at the Royal Mint. We took turns lifting a gold ingot.
Excellent lunch at the Mill Street Brew Pub. All those other places that serve mediocre fish and chips should visit this place to see how its done.
Arrived home about six in the evening.
